Partner university’s areas of study
- Students attending UGR on Exchange will attend regular academic courses taught in Spanish
- Students must have at least a B1 level of Spanish, if planning to take academic courses taught in Spanish (To determine your level, please self-assess with: European Language Portfolio Global Scale)
- For those students who speak basic to lower intermediate level Spanish, UGR offers fee-paying (Study Abroad) programs through Centre for Modern Languages - students will be tested upon arrival and placed in the appropriate level

Students on exchange for Term 1-only cannot return to UBC in Term 2

- Students applying for Exchange should select the "Universidad de Granada-UniWide-STUDY" experience on the online application
- Students applying for Study Abroad should select the "Universidad de Granada CLM-Study Abroad-STUDY" experience on the online application
Credits
Course equivalency formula
- Academic coursework: ECTS credits divided by 2 = UBC credit (e.g. 30 ECTS = 15 UBC Credits)
Credit transfer process
The transfer credit process takes approximately 16 weeks following each submission deadline. You should allow sufficient time to meet important deadlines that may affect you (e.g. application for graduation, registration in courses that require prerequisites that you took on exchange, entry to a major/honours program, etc.)

Grading scheme
In the Spanish university sytem, each course unit is graded on a scale from 0 to 10 points, and each numerical grade corresponds to a qualitative grade as follows:
Suspenso (Fail): 0-4.9
Aprobado (Pass): 5-6.9
Notable (Good): 7-8.9
Sobresaliente (Very Good): 9-10
Matrícula de honor: A special mention for outstanding performance limited to a maximum of 5% of students registered in a given course unit group
No Presentado (Absent): When a student does not take the corresponding examination or final assessment

Course information and restrictions
- Exchange students have access to the regular courses at Granada which are mostly in Spanish
- Exchange (pay UBC tuition):
- To find courses, first go to the general website and select your field of study right the right (e.g. Artes y Humanidades)
- From here, select a specific degree and find courses on the website for that degree
- Exchange students may take Spanish as a Second Language courses through the Centre for Modern Languages CELE program: https://www.clm-granada.com/en/esp/cele.html.

If you don't see a particular course you listed, it simply means you need to submit it as a new course request through the Transfer Credit Portal while on your Go Global experience. - Exchange Students: Taking regular classes taught in Spanish pay tuition for 15 credits or equivalent full-time program fee per term to UBC
Scholarships and awards
The Go Global Award $1000
All students accepted to Go Global for Exchange, Research Abroad, or Study Abroad travel programs are automatically considered for this award. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you'll be notified of your award after you're accepted to Go Global and after you get nominated to apply to the partner university.
Additional awards
Students who are eligible for awards may receive one UBC or UBC-affiliated international learning award. If you're eligible, you are always offered the highest-value award. Unless stated otherwise, you need to meet eligibility criteria set out by the University Senate regarding awards.

Information for US students:
If you are a student from the United States, please check the US Department of Education Lookup Tool to ensure that any partner institution you wish to attend on Exchange is Title IV ‘eligible’ for Federal Student Aid for the year in which you intend to study there. For institutions outside of the US, select “Foreign Country” from the “State” dropdown menu.
If you attend an eligible institution, then you may receive Title IV federal student loans while on Exchange.
If you attend an ineligible institution:
- You will not be eligible for US federal student loans,
- You may invalidate any US student aid you have previously received for your studies at UBC,
- You may be required to immediately begin repaying your US student loans, and
- You may not be eligible for any future US student aid for the remainder of your studies at UBC.

Housing notes
- There are no student residences - students must find their own housing
- It is advisable to book beforehand directly with a hostel if staying temporarily in order to find housing - hostel will normally require a postal giro or bank transfer before they will confirm the booking
