Partner university’s areas of study
- Limited course selection in English along with French language instruction through SELF program
- Students must have at least an B1 level in French for the DEUF program (To determine your level, please self-assess with: European Language Portfolio Global Scale)
- SELF program is appropriate for French beginners and intermediate (up to a B2 level)
- DEUF program is appropriate for students with intermediate to advanced French (minimum B1)
- The LLM program for Law students is in English

Information for Law students
Law students have the option of doing either the SELF, DEUF programs or one semester of the International LLM program. The International and European Business Law is the recommended option for Law students. The full LLM program is not available to UBC Law students.
Term Dates
- Semester 1: Early September to Mid January (regular/DEUF program) OR to Mid December (SELF program)
- Semester 2: Mid January to End May (regular/DEUF program) OR to End April (SELF program)
Timing
- SELF program ends in late December allowing term 1 students to return to UBC for January term
- DEUF Program has Term 1 exams that end in mid-January
- When applying to Go Global, Commerce students must select Lyon III-COMM and Law students must choose Lyon III-LAW

Grading scheme
- Grading in France is on a scale of 0 to 20
- Each class is graded separately, and a minimum grade of 10 is required to pass a course
- In addition to the grades obtained in the courses, students receive another grade according to the ECTS:
- A = Excellent (the highest 10% of a class)
- B = Very Good (the following 25%)
- C = Good (the following 30%)
- D = Satisfactory (the following 25%)
- E = Sufficient (the last 10% of a class)
- FX = Fail (passing level not obtained)
- F = Fail (level considerably below passing)

- SELF Program - Compulsory courses:
- French as foreign languages: 50 hours 5 credits
- Introduction to French Culture and Civilization: 20 hours 2 credits
- Optional courses: 4 courses to be chosen from around 20 courses in business and arts
- DEUF Program - Compulsory courses:
- French as a foreign language : 20 hours per semester: 5 credits per semester
- Introduction to French Culture and Civilization: 10 hours per semester: 3 credits per semester
- Choice of courses in all faculties: 36 credits including 21 credits in French language

The Go Global Award $1000
All students accepted to Go Global for Exchange, Research Abroad, or Study Abroad travel programs are automatically considered for this award. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you'll be notified of your award after you're accepted to Go Global and after you get nominated to apply to the partner university.
Additional awards
Students who are eligible for awards may receive one UBC or UBC-affiliated international learning award. If you're eligible, you are always offered the highest-value award. Unless stated otherwise, you need to meet eligibility criteria set out by the University Senate regarding awards.

- Candidates are recommended to apply for a grant at least one year before their registration at a French institution
Information for US students:
If you attend an eligible institution, then you may receive Title IV federal student loans while on Exchange.
If you attend an ineligible institution:
- You will not be eligible for US federal student loans,
- You may invalidate any US student aid you have previously received for your studies at UBC,
- You may be required to immediately begin repaying your US student loans, and
- You may not be eligible for any future US student aid for the remainder of your studies at UBC.
