- Study Abroad & Incoming Exchange students may select from most of the 4,000 courses across our six faculties
- Most courses at UQ are open to Study Abroad and Incoming Exchange students but some require permission from the relevant UQ faculty or school before you can enrol in them
- UQ’s Study Abroad and Incoming Exchange Advisors will request permission on your behalf and you will receive a report with your letter of offer indicating which courses have been approved
- PLEASE NOTE: Most Clinical Health Science courses (Medicine, Dentistry, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy, Occupational and Speech Therapy and Vet Science courses) are not available for Study Abroad or Incoming Exchange Students

- Standard full-time load: 16 units (often expressed as #16) of study per year (this usually means 8 courses per year), or 8 units of study per semester (this usually means 4 courses per semester)

The Go Global Award $1000
All students accepted to Go Global for Exchange, Research Abroad, or Study Abroad travel programs are automatically considered for this award. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you'll be notified of your award after you're accepted to Go Global and after you get nominated to apply to the partner university.
Additional awards
Students who are eligible for awards may receive one UBC or UBC-affiliated international learning award. If you're eligible, you are always offered the highest-value award. Unless stated otherwise, you need to meet eligibility criteria set out by the University Senate regarding awards.

Information for US students:
If you are a student from the United States, please check the US Department of Education Lookup Tool to ensure that any partner institution you wish to attend on Exchange is Title IV ‘eligible’ for Federal Student Aid for the year in which you intend to study there. For institutions outside of the US, select “Foreign Country” from the “State” dropdown menu.
If you attend an eligible institution, then you may receive Title IV federal student loans while on Exchange.
If you attend an ineligible institution:
- You will not be eligible for US federal student loans,
- You may invalidate any US student aid you have previously received for your studies at UBC,
- You may be required to immediately begin repaying your US student loans, and
- You may not be eligible for any future US student aid for the remainder of your studies at UBC.

Types of accommodation available
Housing notes
- Each college runs separately from one another and must be applied to individually
- Some colleges require that you have a student number before you apply while others do not
- Please read student reports for their experiences in each of the colleges or their application procedures to get into the college
- On-campus residence: 10 on-campus halls of residence; however, space is limited - Students interested in staying on-campus must apply early - Students can download an application from the Accommodation Services website at www.accommodation.uq.edu.au and send their application directly to the on-campus hall of residence
- On-campus residential accommodation costs between AUD$9,000-$16,000 per year (3 meals/day are included in this price)
- Off-campus residence: Off-campus halls of residence, apartments and share-housing are available - Please check the Accommodation Services website for off-campus availability and costs (some off-campus housing can be booked online)
- Students planning to live off-campus should plan to arrive in Brisbane at least one week before Orientation to allow time to find suitable housing
- Temporary accommodation Those students who have not arranged accommodation prior to arriving in Brisbane will be taken to temporary accommodation (paid for by the student) on arrival. Temporary accommodation can be booked through the Accommodation Services website
- Airport Reception: All international students are met at the Brisbane Airport or the downtown bus terminal, free of charge - Students must access the online airport reception form on the Accommodation Services website to take advantage of this service (students receive information about this service in their acceptance packet)
