UBC Vancouver Summer Program debuts bright new student-centric website

August 25, 2021

UBC Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) just unveiled its splashy new website designed to attract overseas students and make it easier to connect and find information quickly. Launched Aug. 16, the new site is visually inviting, friendly and scannable, as well as video- and photo-driven.

“The goal is to provide visitors an easier way to learn about VSP: our packages and services, how to apply, our partner faculties and schools, student life at UBC Vancouver and what our beautiful city has to offer,” says VSP Director Caroline Lai.

A unit of UBC’s Office of the Vice-Provost International, VSP is a popular and successful offering, giving international undergraduates, and some graduate students, a chance to enhance their education, expand their world view and live like a West Coast Canadian. Specifically, VSP targets overseas students who want to enhance their future careers and strengthen their educational experience at a North American university, while improving their English, meeting new friends and exploring local culture.

The four-week program runs every June and July. Students live in residence on the Vancouver campus and socialize with other students while taking shortened versions of leading UBC courses.

Vancouver’s Domain 7 designed VSP’s website, in partnership with digital content and branding agency Monday Creative, aiming for a virtual space that is both engaging and relatable to potential and current students. Site content underscores VSP’s key messages, including: Seeing the world through a new lens; taking an array of courses with something for every interest and subject; connecting inside the classroom and out; learning at a world-class university; getting a taste of quintessential campus life and living like a Vancouverite.

In addition, VSP is now leveraging social media to attract students from different parts of the globe. The new site features integrated links to VSP’s Instagram feed, plus a blog and e-newsletter spotlighting student stories, profiles and experiences.
