Applications for Mitacs Globalink Research Award program due Dec. 1

International research collaborations are more important than ever, says Mitacs, a national non-profit offering training programs and research funding to Canadian universities. Mitacs is supporting researchers to collaborate on projects with eligible partners around the world on initiatives aimed at solving today’s complex, interconnected challenges, with funding for students and postdoctoral fellows to undertake research abroad. Researchers can submit an application package by Dec. 1 to be considered for the Mitacs Globalink Research Award program.

The program focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to the humanities and social sciences, and the competition covers topics of strategic importance to both Canadian and global research communities – including advanced computing (quantum and Artificial Intelligence), net-zero carbon emissions and global health. Up to five senior undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral fellows per project can receive a $6,000 award to fund a 12- to 24-week research project, travelling in either direction between the partner institutions, under the joint supervision of one home and one host professor. Selected projects will have a year to get started (by February 2023).
