Long-standing history of Indo-Pacific scholarship
Dating back nine decades, UBC’s studies on the Asia-Pacific promote Canadian public understanding and contribute to Canada’s policy discussion about the region. UBC’s expertise extends across multiple disciplines, including international trade, security, business, public policy, language, culture, history, international development, sustainability, law, health and education.
UBC’s Indo-Pacific presence
- UBC established the Asia Pacific Regional Office in Hong Kong and the India Liaison Office in New Delhi to enhance existing academic, government and private-sector regional partnerships while supporting UBC students and alumni
- 70% of UBC international students are from Indo-Pacific countries (20% of total)
- 12,000+ registered UBC alumni residing in Indo-Pacific countries (January 2024)
