Cooking and writing—poetry, fiction and inspirational quotes—keep Andrews Nartey busy in his free time. Andrews currently works as an Evaluation Consultant with Ference & Company, one of Canada’s leading program evaluation and research consulting firms.
He has strong working knowledge of innovative public health programs, and expertise in applying mixed methods to evaluating health and social services programs. With six years in the biomedical and healthcare, and academic and research industries, Andrews is keen on evidence-based public health intervention and sustainability in health and social care.
Andrews hails from Accra, Ghana. He graduated from the Master of Public Health program in the UBC School of Population and Public Health in 2022. He is also an alumnus of the University of Houston and Ghana’s Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, where he earned his Master of Science in Vision Science and Doctor of Optometry degrees, respectively.
Outside work, Andrews serves as a mentor to students in sub-Saharan Africa. His forté is in personal growth coaching, and academic and professional development training. A UBC Mastercard Foundation Scholar, he recently collaborated as a co-researcher on the “Identities in Transition—From Africa to North America & Europe: Becoming Students,” a joint project with Scotland’s University of Edinburgh funded by the Mastercard Foundation.
